Halifax wedding slideshow season is on!

A hearty welcome to visitors from Google and beyond!

Weddings in Halifax will be happening soon, and a DVD slideshow is the perfect addition to the reception. As a break between meal courses, a prelude to speeches, or a conversation-starter before the dance, a multimedia slide show can involve a photo montage, video clips and even archival sound clips and special effects.

Wedding photographers in Halifax and videographers in Halifax can put together fine work *after* the wedding. But if you're looking for a video presentation for your wedding event, well, that's where we can come in.

Check out the newly-posted pricing packages for Halifax wedding slideshows and other services, and check out the many video demos on this site. I'm sure you'll find something to spark your imagination.

Article: Bride.ca on Save-The-Date videos

Bride.ca has a look at what's been big in 2010, including Save-The-Date videos:

A Personal, memorable e-Vite

The Save the Date video can be used as an e-vite (electronic invitation) to the wedding. It's a greener solution than mailing out 400 cards. Of course, most couples will send out formal invitation cards anyway. What the video is really designed for is social media. Everyone is on Facebook. A few months before the wedding, the couple will post their Save the Date video to Facebook or email links to all their guests. (or host the video on the couple's wedding website, if they have one..). It serves as a reminder to save the wedding date and it gets guests excited for the couple and ready for the wedding. It also gives people who may not know the couple well, a glimpse into their personalities too. Ultimately, it is 1000% more memorable than a plain old card!

Article: Hot trends in wedding video

Perennial bridal fave site TheKnot.com notes a couple of relevant items that are super-hot right now:

The 3-D Photo Montage Show

This concept has become widely available in wedding photography packages. Still images, which are generally taken before the wedding day, are digitally manipulated to appear three-dimensional—special effects and music can be added as well. The finished product is a movie that can be played throughout your reception and will become a one-of-a-kind keepsake. Because this technique requires a significant amount of editing time, couples tend to use pictures taken throughout their lives, not shots from the actual ceremony. "They're popular to play on the wedding day for an extra wow factor," says Adam Forgione, owner of Pennylane Productions in Commack, New York. "Keep in mind that it requires many hours of editing and, because of that, it can be more expensive." That said, if you're looking for a bit of entertainment that will awe your wedding guests, this could prove to be well worth the money.

Wedding Trailers

This intentionally dramatic spin on the typical highlight reel serves as a preview of your wedding video. Picture a roaring epic movie score, special editing effects, and maybe a voiceover. "The trailer is usually done a few weeks after the wedding," says Forgione. "It has a more intense style than a highlight reel, and it's designed to make you want to see more." Think of it as a teaser to show family and friends while waiting for your full-length video. Every videographer's style is different, but the idea is to share a glimpse of some emotional moments without giving them away. (Visualize your lips almost touching, then a fade to black.)"After the wedding, if the bride and groom want to show off their trailer, they can create a link online to send to friends and family or put on their thank-you cards," says Forgione.

Article: Coming soon to a wedding near you: Save-the-date videos go over the top

Part of a Globe and Mail article from February 2010:

Creative couples are trading cards for YouTube videos to remind their guests about the big day

It has the epic sweep of a summer blockbuster and the charm of a great romantic comedy. It mixes genres with the skill of a master filmmaker. It's not James Cameron's follow-up to Avatar. It's Jeff and Erin's save-the-date video.

Jeff and Erin's what?

Rather than sending out dusty old cards, Jeffrey Wong and Erin Martin, who met in California and now live in Australia, announced the date of their impending nuptials to invitees with a slick, over-the-top, four-minute film.

Since it was posted on YouTube in November, "Jeff & Erin's EPIC Wedding Trailer: Save the Date" has been viewed more than 800,000 times. Appearing dressed as characters from The Matrix and featuring the theme song from Indiana Jones (among other highlights), the video tells the story of the couple's love for one another with tongue-in-cheek flair.

"We wanted to do the most over-the-top action movie trailer parody we could think of," the couple explained on their blog in January.

It has been praised as the best example yet of a budding trend. Couples are becoming mini-movie directors in an attempt to get people pumped about their nuptials, creating save-the-date videos to express who they are and set the tone of their weddings much better than a traditional card ever could. The opportunity to have some fun has couples starring in videos that spoof iPhone commercials, mimic music videos and parody Star Wars.
Sound like something your guests would get a kick out of?
